The Growth Works, his current venture, supports hospitality businesses in building strong partnerships across the industry to achieve new heights of commercial performance and positive guest experience. Alongside our launch partner, IHG, where James leads Strategy & Innovation for the Commercial & Technology function, we’re working with a number of regional hotel chains and alternative hospitality businesses. James has led teams in a number of businesses across Travel & Leisure (IHG, FTSE 100), Technology (Travelport,
$3bn revenues with active start-up incubation programme) and Consumer goods (Unilever, FTSE 100).
His work includes designing IHG’s Channel and Distribution Partnership Strategy in 2019, launching homestay pilots with Marriott which evolved into a sister business unit named Marriott Homes and Villas, and integrating hospitality-disruptor OYO into Travelport.
He is the former COO of a high growth series B hospitality technology business, Hostmaker, where James grew the business from 100 to 500 people and 4 to 9 markets.
A regular speaker and lecturer across the hospitality industry, James has taken to the main stage at events including WebSummit, Mews, Les Roches International School of Hotel Management and the University of Lausanne. He is also redesigning the University of West London’s Masters to focus on future leadership in the industry.
